One shot.....Getting to know the camera!

Well on Tuesday we spent much of the 3 hour session getting to grips with our new friend 'Sony Z1'. We had chance to throw together a quick one shot practise film in the space of about an hour and half, we came up with 'Frank Zombie'. Probably better if i leave the whole Frank Zombie thing there to be honest as it was a practise more for getting used to the camera and filming ideas ready for the main one shot production.
OK i will expand a little on the Frank Zombie idea in basic terms it was about a new class mate arriving at school for his first day and from the moment he walks in things are very strange.......cutting a long story short he attacks the rest of his class mates during the lesson.
Going over to the more serious side of things i think as a group we picked up some good little ideas that may well get introduced or evolved when we come to shoot our short film. We filmed the Frank Zombie film from behind a computer monitor as if the camera was the vision of one of the pupils in the class (which seemed to work quite well) and the other thing we incorporated to the film was a bit of well suited background music (Michael Jackson's - Thriller). The thing was we didnt have the opportunity to work on video editing in this production so we involved the Thriller music by playing the video on the computer in front of the pupil (Pupil being the Sony Z1) with the idea in mind that it was to bring the pupil into the production a little more, almost helping us to give this character that you never see his own character.
Anyway the main production is on its way soon.................
